Photographing Rooted in Wales Flower Festival
2nd–4th October 2026 | Cyfarthfa Castle, Merthyr Tydfil
I’m very happy to be photographing Rooted in Wales, the first flower festival in Wales, taking place at Cyfarthfa Castle in Merthyr Tydfil this October.
I’ll be there as the festival photographer, documenting the floral displays, the people behind them, the creativity, and all those little moments that make an event feel alive.
This one is particularly special to me. I love making flower arrangements, and I love photographing them too. Flowers, gardens and interiors have always been a big part of my creative life, so being able to combine that with my love of documentary photography feels like a very natural fit.
Rather than concentrating only on the finished displays, I’ll be looking for the details and moments around them too: people creating, visitors discovering something beautiful, conversations, laughter, the atmosphere of the castle and all the small things that might otherwise be missed.
I photograph festivals, events, workshops, launches, performances, community events and celebrations, creating natural, candid images that tell the story of what actually happened.
