Elijah Jeffery & Eddie Gripper – First Gig of 2026 at Black Mountain Jazz Club
Last Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing an incredible gig at Black Mountain Jazz Club — the first of the year! The talented duo Elijah Jeffery & Eddie Gripper were promoting their self-titled debut album, and what a night it was.
The duo played a mix of original songs from the album alongside some timeless pieces from the Great American Songbook — which I absolutely love hearing (and photographing) live. Their chemistry on stage was amazing, and it really came through in every shot I took.
Their album, Elijah Jeffery & Eddie Gripper, features seven original tracks plus an inspired adaptation of Henry Purcell’s Dido’s Lament. Critics have praised their music for its emotional depth, creativity, and intelligence — and seeing it live was a real treat.
I even managed to grab a few short video clips during rehearsals — still practising, but hopefully they’ll be shareable soon!

Capturing live music is something I absolutely love. It’s all about the energy, connection, and those magical moments between the notes. This gig reminded me why jazz photography will always have a special place in my heart.
